He's playing at Jefferson Theatre in Charlottesville, VA about an hours drive for me. It is a small venue and the concert was re-scheduled From last August. I want to go, and I just got an offer for 2 tix at face value thru craigs list, I just can't spring the time off from work, etc. The show is sold out and is on Apr. 26.

well, don't let me rain on your parade, I'm pretty low income. The Furthur show I attended was after a once a year job paycheck of $1300. Otherwise, a $100/wk is a VERY good week for me. I barter work for rent, thank gawd

I'm reading the Jerry interview from '85 and came across this nugget:

Q: Why have the Grateful Dead more or less limited their acoustic sets?

A: I don’t know. I don’t think [Bob] Weir feels comfortable playing acoustic music. I don’t know. I’m not sure exactly why. I personally would like to do it more often. Bob doesn’t seem to like to do it very much.

That's too much money for a single concert. For that much money you could throw a pretty good party for you and your friends, and you could ask people here for links to good Bobby solo acoustic shows. My favorite one is 5/10/92, but it's not up on the archive yet.

$150?!! No way, if cost is a factor. In 2010 I paid $85 to see Furthur at the Outside Lands Festival. It was the most I ever paid to see a concert

Have you checked out any of his solo stuff from TRI studios that might be a good way to judge if its worth the coin. I wanted to go to the Colonial Theatre show but it's sold out.

how can anyone answer this question for you?

If you really like Bobby & can afford the tickets, then go.

Personally there are VERY few people/bands I'd be willing to pay $150 to see, though if it was a truly intimate venue, there are a few. No offense to BW, but he's not one of them.

hey i caught bob a few months ago in mill valley i showed up as an impromptu volunteer ending up selling posters inside for the ring moutain school benefit i acted like i was in the know and quickly folks asked me questions about what they should expect for the evening bob pulled up out back i was the only one back there gave him a hand with his toys. we both realized thatit was to be a good night seeing bobby solo except for stool guitar and no shoe so he can stomp the beet was pretty cool the fact is nobody has ever played more live music for the simple reason of celebration of life than bob weir nobody has come close to bring so much joyto so many people as the big chief . he tells a great story if you listen to what he says his playing has only gotten better with his life expierience if you have to weigh your decision due to lofty ticket price you are missing the point in life go..... say yesss....take chances invite a girl to dance sell posters and smile and act like you know cause next time doesnt all ways happen ive blown my nose and lost more than 150 leave your watch your i phone at home go and listen to the man who has played more live gigs than anyone on the planet stay and thank him after the show remember alot of these days are borrowed and time spent alive is priceless

"if you have to weigh your decision due to lofty ticket price you are missing the point in life"

then i guess the guy charging them surely has missed it as well

Well everyone's different. I saw Bob and Wassrman solo a few times acoustic early 90's when the Dead were still together. Two were free shows and one I paid for. Painfully boring imo. That's my opinion so I fall into the category for this that a lot of people here do about all Post Jerry lineups.
